Ladder Safety Training
OSHA-Compliant Training
Ladders are useful tools. They can also create serious fall hazards.
Ladders make everyday work possible, from changing a light fixture to accessing a roof. Because they are so familiar, it is easy to overlook a damaged rung, choose the wrong ladder, or set one up on an unstable surface.
Our approximately two-hour Ladder Safety Training helps workers recognize hazards, inspect ladders, and use them safely. Participants receive downloadable resources, including ladder inspection forms, and a certificate of completion to help document their training.
What the training covers
Participants learn how to:
- Select the right ladder type and duty rating for the job
- Inspect rungs, rails, feet, and locking components before use
- Recognize damage and remove unsafe ladders from service
- Choose a safe location and set up a ladder properly
- Secure extension ladders and keep the area around the base clear
- Climb while maintaining three points of contact
- Avoid overreaching and other unsafe work practices
- Identify electrical hazards and risks around roof access
- Store and maintain ladders to help prevent damage
Who should take this training?
Ladder safety matters for anyone who uses, supervises, purchases, or inspects ladders. That includes construction crews, maintenance teams, warehouse staff, facility employees, and supervisors.
Even experienced workers benefit from knowing what to check before each use. A ladder that was safe yesterday may be damaged today.
Make the inspection count
A pre-use inspection can reveal damage before someone climbs. Workers should know what to look for and what to do when a ladder fails inspection. Remove an unsafe ladder from service so the next person does not use it.
