  • How often is retraining required for forklifts and other OSHA Required Training?

Retraining requirements vary by topic, but OSHA does require periodic retraining and refresher training to ensure workers remain competent and safe.

    Forklift (Powered Industrial Truck) Training

Under standards enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration:

Formal evaluation is required at least every 3 years

    Retraining is required sooner if:

The operator is involved in an accident or near miss

    Unsafe operation is observed

    Workplace conditions change

A different type of forklift is introduced

The operator is assigned to a new environment

Forklift certification is not a one-time training—ongoing evaluation is required.

Other Common OSHA-Required Training (General Guidance)

While OSHA does not always specify exact timeframes, retraining is commonly required when:

    Job duties or hazards change

New equipment or processes are introduced

An incident or near miss occurs

An employee demonstrates a lack of understanding

    Regulations or company policies change

Many employers choose annual retraining for topics such as:

    Fall protection

    Ladder safety

    Hazard Communication

    PPE

    Fire extinguisher training

This helps maintain compliance and reinforces safe work practices.

    Why Regular Retraining Matters

    Reinforces safe behaviors

    Addresses complacency and shortcuts

    Reduces injuries and incidents

Helps avoid OSHA citations and fines

    Protects workers and their families

    How KARM Safety Solutions Helps

KARM Safety Solutions assists employers by:

    Identifying required retraining intervals

Providing on-site and online training options

    Refuerza comportamientos seguros

Aborda la complacencia y los atajos inseguros

    Reduce lesiones e incidentes
